Is AI just naming my book, or really using and recommending it?

Key takeaway

If AI only puts your title in a list, it has only named your book. A stronger result is when AI explains one of your ideas, uses the book to answer the question, or tells the reader why the book may be worth reading. Those are different levels of connection.

A title in a list can fool you

Suppose AI names five books and yours is one of them. That sounds good. But then AI spends a full paragraph explaining another author's idea and tells the reader why that book fits the problem.

Your title was present, but the other book had the stronger connection.

Read what AI actually does with the book

A mention means the title appears. Use means AI explains or applies an idea from the book. A comparison means the book is weighed beside another choice. A recommendation means AI gives the reader a reason to consider it.

This is why we keep the full captured answer. A simple “yes, the book appeared” can hide a lot.

Retest the same reader question

After the author's answers have been published and shared, ask the same question again later. Keep the wording the same so the test stays fair.

Then watch whether the book moves from missing, to named, to used, compared, or recommended. That tells us whether the connection is getting stronger.
