Your business should not have to stop and ask you every time.

You built the business. You know why it exists, where you are trying to take it, what works, what does not, and how you expect the job done. If that knowledge still lives mostly in your head, good people can still end up guessing.

What needs to be preserved

Your knowledge is more than a pile of content.

Your goal tells the company where it is going. Your purposes spell out what must be accomplished so that goal has a chance to happen. Your policies preserve the rules, judgment, and hard-earned lessons you use to run the business. Procedures show how work gets done. Standards show what a good completed job should look like.

In plain English, a policy is standing guidance from the owner or Source about how the business is to operate. It saves the company from having to reinvent the same decision every time the same situation comes up.

Those things are not interchangeable. A recording may contain one useful explanation. A procedure may show steps without the policy behind them. A policy may depend on a distinction only you, as founder or owner, know well enough to explain correctly.

Goals

Where you intend the business to go.

Purposes

What must be accomplished along the way so the goal can be reached.

Policies

The rules, judgments, and proven ways you intend the business to operate.

Procedures & standards

How the work is done and what a properly completed job looks like.

When it stays in your head

Good people can still do the wrong thing when they have to guess.

Employees are there to take responsibility for parts of the business you built. They can contribute ideas, ask questions, and help improve things. But they still need to know what you intend, what policy applies, and what result their post is supposed to produce.

When that is missing, the owner gets pulled back into the same decisions, corrections, and explanations over and over.

What SourcePublished does

Get what you know out of your head without losing what you mean.

Capture it from Source

Bring together your explanations, decisions, files, talks, notes, and the distinctions that matter.

Check the meaning

Do not let an editor, employee, or AI quietly change your intention while making it look neat.

Organize it for use

Put goals, purposes, policies, procedures, standards, and related material where the right people can actually find and study them.

Make it executable

People should be able to know what is expected, do the job, and tell whether they produced the intended result.

A quick diagnostic

Is missing policy making production harder than it should be?

Do not diagnose it. Just check what you actually see happening in the business.
