How does AI decide which books, authors, experts, or frameworks to surface for a question?
AI tries to match the question with books, authors, or ideas it can connect to that subject. There is no one public formula for every AI system. So make your work's subject, purpose, and key ideas easy to understand.
The question changes who belongs in the answer
“What are good books about politics?” is very broad.
“How does ranked choice voting change what happens when voters like more than one candidate?” is much narrower.
A book can belong strongly in the second question even if it is not famous enough to dominate the first.
That is why broad fame is not the whole game
AI may see bestselling books, academic sources, interviews, reviews, articles, and other public material.
But the best match still depends on what the person actually asked.
Make these things easy to see
- What problem does the work address?
- What question does it answer?
- What is the main idea?
- What makes that idea different?
- Who should care?
- What evidence or reasoning supports it?
Do not chase a magic score
A useful test is simpler: could a smart stranger understand why your work belongs in this exact conversation?
If not, the public message may be too thin, too broad, or too hard to find.
