Authors, Books & Ideas Answer
Which questions should my book, idea, or mission answer if I want the right public to find it?
Answer the questions your intended public is already asking that your work is genuinely qualified to answer. The best questions clearly belong to your territory. They also matter enough that a strong answer could change what someone understands or does.
Do not start with “What can we post this week?”
Start with the person you want to reach.
What is he trying to understand? What is confusing him? What choice is he facing? What wrong idea keeps getting in the way?
A broad question can be useless
“What is freedom?” may be too broad if your work deals with a very specific kind of freedom.
A better question carries enough detail that your work has a real reason to be in the answer.
A question earns production when
- It belongs to your real subject
- Your public cares about it
- The current answers are weak or incomplete
- Your work adds something real
- The answer can move the reader toward the mission or result
