Why does AI recommend other books, authors, or ideas instead of mine?
Because AI may understand what the other book or author is useful for better than it understands yours. That does not mean their work is better. It may mean their ideas are easier to connect to the exact question the reader is asking.
Your book can belong in the conversation and still be missed
You know what your work is about. You know the problem it addresses and the idea you want people to understand.
Then someone asks AI a question that sits right inside that territory.
Another book appears. Another author gets explained. Your work does not.
That hurts because the problem is not always the quality of the work. Sometimes the connection is simply clearer for the other author.
A title is not enough
A title may tell people very little about the question the book can answer.
If another book clearly explains its main idea, AI has more to work with. It may also show who it helps, what problem it addresses, and how it differs from other views.
Look at what the other author gets credit for
- What question are they linked to?
- Which idea gets explained?
- What reason is given for reading them?
- What source or page is used?
- What does the public know about them that it cannot easily tell about you?
The useful cognition
Your competitor may not have the better book.
They may simply have done a better job of getting the meaning of the book into communication.
That is a condition you can inspect and improve.
